Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 6

Section: Legal and Conduct

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance. The role involves working in accordance with agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and prepare advice on employment issues, complex workplace relations matters, relevant legislation, and agreements.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of strategies to improve departmental outcomes when managing people matters, staff engagement, and workplace consultation.
  • Represent the department in dealings with unions and other stakeholders, preparing materials to assist with representation at tribunals and external jurisdictions.
  • Support the research, development, management, and implementation of enterprise agreements, HR Policies, and employment contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and processes.
  • Develop and maintain productive stakeholder relationships and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Assist in the preparation of written material including executive briefs, corporate documentation, findings of fact, and formal communications relating to employee conduct and performance.

This role requires the ability to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice.
