We are seeking an experienced Strategic Workplace Relations and Performance Expert to join our team at the Parliament of Australia.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality specialist advice to senior management on workplace relations, performance, and conduct matters. This includes identifying and developing innovative strategies to improve departmental outcomes, representing the department in dealings with unions, tribunals, and external stakeholders, and leading, motivating, and gaining the commitment of others in achieving a positive performance and conduct focus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical advice and education to staff on employment issues, complex workplace relations matters, relevant legislation, and agreements.
  • Design and develop strategies to improve departmental outcomes when managing complex sensitive people matters, staff engagement, and workplace consultation.
  • Represent the department in dealings with unions, tribunals, external jurisdictions, and other stakeholders to avoid disputes or achieve positive outcomes and resolutions.
  • Lead and motivate teams to achieve a positive performance and conduct focus.
  • Develop and maintain productive stakeholder relationships, liaise and effectively negotiate with key stakeholders including senior management, staff, industrial organisations, and external agencies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in human resource management or law.
  • Significant experience in workplace relations, performance, or conduct.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
