About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join our team in the APY Lands.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of programs for Aboriginal children and young people within the WCHN APY Lands Integrated Model of Care (IMOC).

You will be responsible for providing cultural advice and guidance to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal workforce within CAMHS, supporting improvements in the quality and distribution of services across CAMHS and within the APY Lands team, addressing the mental health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal children, young people, and their families through running programs and supporting clinicians, offering timely cultural advice to multidisciplinary staff to enhance care delivery, ensuring quality services for children, adolescents, and families experiencing complex social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, and working effectively within a multidisciplinary and interagency team context.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of culturally safe and effective mental health programs for Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Provide expert advice on Aboriginal culture, history, and issues relevant to the work of CAMHS and the APY Lands team.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all aspects of service delivery are culturally safe and responsive.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, Elders, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practice in Aboriginal mental health and wellbeing.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as psychology, social work, or Aboriginal studies.
  • Proven experience working with Aboriginal communities and in mental health settings.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and current issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
