About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Aboriginal Social Worker to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team in Port Augusta.

As an Aboriginal Social Worker, you will be responsible for delivering culturally responsive child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs, and addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.

You will engage in ongoing consultation, liaison, and co-work with other CAMHS disciplines, government, and non-government organisations, and utilize expert cultural knowledge, skills, and experience to direct, support, orient, and educate other staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver culturally responsive child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs
  • Address cultural safety and undertake culturally informed engagement, assessment, education/advocacy, counselling, and group work
  • Engage in ongoing consultation, liaison, and co-work with other CAMHS disciplines, government, and non-government organisations
  • Utilize expert cultural knowledge, skills, and experience to direct, support, orient, and educate other staff

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability in integrating Aboriginal cultural experiences, philosophy, and practices into mental health services for Indigenous youth and families
  • Proven expertise in engaging and establishing rapport with Indigenous youth and families to address their needs effectively
  • Vast experience in conducting assessments and implementing interventions for Indigenous youth and families with complex mental health challenges
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural, social, and emotional wellbeing issues impacting Indigenous youth and families, and government policy impacts on mental health outcomes
