Job Description

Job Title: Management Accountant

Company: Outback Stores Pty Ltd

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Assist the Finance Manager in reviewing and reporting on store financial data in a timely and accurate manner, including:
    • Profit and loss variance analysis;
    • Balance sheet reconciliation;
    • Stocktake and gross profit analysis;
  • Tax and Compliance: Review and lodge BAS/IAS/PAYG, and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations;
  • Payroll and Superannuation: Review store payroll and superannuation, and ensure accurate and timely payment;
  • Insurance Claims: Review and approve insurance claims prior to lodgement;
  • Weekly Payment Runs: Review and approve weekly payment runs;
  • End of Month Reports: Review end of month AP, AR, and Cash reports with the Assistant Accountant;
  • Budgeting: Assist the Finance Manager in completing store budgets.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Board Reports: Compile store board reports within set deadlines;
  • CBA Reconciliation: Reconcile and manage the CBA (Community Benefit Account) process for stores;
  • Bank Communication: Communicate with banks and manage new account setups;
  • Audit Communication: Communicate with auditors on timing of year-end audits;
  • Query Resolution: Communicate audit queries with Accounting Officers and assist in resolving queries.
General Responsibilities:
  • Authority and Delegation: Hold bank and cash order authority, and delegate tasks as required;
  • Recruitment Support: Assist with the recruitment process for store finance roles;
  • Coverage: Cover Finance Manager and Management Accountant roles when on leave;
  • Policy and Procedure Management: Manage and maintain all policies and procedures, and ensure regular review and update;
  • Training and Development: Train and assist store finance staff on SAGE-related projects;
  • Efficiency and Productivity: Implement SAGE-related projects to create efficiencies for the finance team;
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with Outback Stores' safety, environmental, and quality policies, and corporate values.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Accounting Qualification: Formal qualification with significant accounting content;
  • Experience: At least 2 years previous accounts experience;
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Good analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Financial Data Analysis: Understanding of financial data and ability to explain to non-financial personnel;
  • Unstructured Environment: Ability to work in an unstructured environment;
  • Audit and Tax Experience: Experience in audit/tax and developing documentation and procedures would be desirable.
