About the Role

The Management Accountant will play a key role in designing and implementing management accounting reports for internal use, educating managers on how to effectively utilize these reports to inform business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly management reports to track financial performance against budget, providing insightful commentary on grant funding and cost centre management performance.
  • Managing progress of underspend and overspend plans, working closely with cost centre managers to provide variance analysis of actual results compared to budget.
  • Supporting the preparation of cash flow forecasts and playing a lead role in compiling the annual budget with senior management.
  • Analyzing trends and financial performance across cost centres, including grant management performance, to inform business strategy.
  • Leading the development of budgets for grant submissions and underspend applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Month-end management accounting, including reconciliations and journals, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in forecasting and budgeting, with a strong skillset in report development.
  • Bachelor's degree or master's qualifications in accounting, with professional certifications such as CPA or CA preferred.
  • Outstanding knowledge of accounting principles and relevant standards.
  • Ability to analyze complex reports and provide actionable insights.
  • High-level organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a productive team member within a multidisciplinary team in a cross-cultural and complex environment.
  • High-level experience using financial accounting software and Microsoft suite of applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High-level problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history.
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Community-controlled Health Service or similar complex environment.
