Medical Officer - Youth Mental Health Specialist

This role offers a unique opportunity to apply clinical expertise in a flexible, community-based setting without the demands of shift work or on-call rosters. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing early intervention mental health support to young people aged 12-25.

  • Job Description:

  • Provide psychiatric and general medical assessments for young people.

  • Support treatment planning, medication management, and risk mitigation.

  • Collaborate closely with psychologists, care coordinators, and social workers.

  • Contribute to clinical reviews, case conferences, and quality improvement.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support service evaluation activities.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mental health assessments and provide recommendations for treatment plans.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

  • Ensure timely communication with family members, carers, and other stakeholders.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in youth mental health.

  • Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent and registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner.

  • Experience or interest in youth mental health, general practice, or early intervention.

  • A collaborative, person-centred approach to clinical care.

  • Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Interest in continuity of care and long-term outcomes over acute presentations.
