Job Title: Mental Health Specialist

The Canberra Health Service is seeking a skilled and dedicated mental health professional to join their team. As a Mental Health Specialist, you will be working in a specialist short-term assessment and consultation service that aims to improve the clinical outcomes for people with intellectual disability and co-occurring mental illness.

About the Role:

This role involves providing expertise in consultation, liaison, support, education, and training to agencies, carers, and families. You will work collaboratively with the person, their families/carers, and community support services to provide high-quality care. Additionally, you will undertake professional development and supervision, participate in quality initiatives, and contribute to the multidisciplinary team processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on mental health issues related to intellectual disability.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct assessments and consultations to identify the needs of individuals with intellectual disability and co-occurring mental illness.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops for carers, families, and community support services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:
