About the Role

The School of Medicine at The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking expressions of interest from registered medical practitioners and professionals in related fields who have a passion for teaching.

Teaching opportunities are available in the Preclinical or Clinical Years of the Medical program, including:

  • Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutoring in Preclinical years;
  • Clinical Debriefing (CD) tutoring in Preclinical and Clinical years;
  • Clinical Skills tutoring;
  • Research Training Pathway tutoring.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting teaching/tutorials/workshops/lectures to the standard of the Faculty;
  • Consulting with students in relation to learning and assessment;
  • Participating in assessment activities, including marking and providing feedback;
  • Attending meetings as required by the Course Coordinator;
  • Complying with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct;
  • Undertaking Professional Development as arranged by the School.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A College Fellowship, a trainee position in a Fellowship Program or a PhD in a relevant area;
  • Clinical Skills: A medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia, plus at least one of the following: A College Fellowship or progress towards (e.g. FRACP, FRACGP, etc) and/or PhD in a field aligned with the research and teaching activities of the School;
  • Clinical Debriefing: Hold a College Fellowship, a trainee position in a Fellowship Program or a PhD in a relevant area;
  • Research Tutors: A PhD in a STEM discipline;
  • Experience in collaborative-based learning environments;
  • Skilled at facilitating small groups, discussions and evoking thoughts and questions from others;
  • A high level of interest in medical education and experience in teaching in a health context;
  • A keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice in the relevant discipline;
  • Ability to, or a willingness to learn how to, incorporate technology into teaching and learning;
  • Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team;
  • Proven ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines, in a busy education environment;
  • Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students;
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team;
  • Desirable: Experience working within a university or teaching environment.
