About the Role

The Coordinator, Major Research Initiatives, plays a pivotal role in supporting the identification, development, and delivery of opportunities for RMIT researchers to partner with end-users, enhancing and increasing the impact of RMIT's research outcomes.

This position is responsible for coordinating research grant schemes, such as Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs), and fostering ongoing long-term relationships with RMIT's external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of projects and grants involving industry, government, and/or universities;
  • Interpret external competitive research funding scheme rules, review funding applications, and provide feedback to applicants;
  • Work with researchers and research end-users, demonstrating the ability to deal with multiple stakeholders;
  • Utilize highly developed customer relations, interpersonal, and written communication skills, particularly in an advisory capacity;
  • Build positive relationships, liaise, engage, and work collaboratively with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders;
  • Work in a high-volume, high-demand role, requiring strong problem-solving and analytical skills, flexibility, and the ability to monitor and progress multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Demonstrate a history of behavior aligned to the RMIT values and professional capability framework;
