About Umwelt

We are a leading environmental consultancy firm with over three decades of experience and a national presence. Our team of experts provides integrated environmental and social assessment and management services across various sectors, including renewables, infrastructure, defence, regulation, and policy, resources, and urban development.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecological Consultant to join our Canberra team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading ecological initiatives, providing technical expertise, and guiding projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead ecological surveys, impact assessments, and provide expert advice to clients
  • Develop and implement ecological project management strategies to drive successful outcomes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions and mitigation strategies
  • Conduct data collection and interpretation, and provide recommendations to clients
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, government agencies, and fellow team members
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Principal Ecologist and 5+ years as a Senior Ecologist
  • Degree qualified in ecology, environmental science, zoology, botany, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in managing medium and large-scale ecological assessment and management projects
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and environmental policies
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
