Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Principal Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our dynamic ecology team in Canberra. This role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

For Principal Ecologist:

  • Lead ecological initiatives, providing strategic direction and technical expertise throughout project lifecycles.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the growth strategy for the ecology workstream.
  • Travel as necessary within the region and nationally.

For Senior Ecologist:

  • Conduct ecological surveys and impact assessments, delivering expert advice to clients.
  • Utilize extensive experience in ecological research and project management to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop sustainable solutions and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in bird and bat utilization surveys is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Principal Ecologist and 5 years as a Senior Ecologist.
  • Degree in ecology, environmental science, zoology, botany, or a related field.
  • BAM accreditation or extensive experience in biometric data capture and analysis.
  • Proven track record in leading ecological assessments and habitat surveys.
  • Strong understanding of relevant environmental legislation and policies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in report preparation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities.
  • Current Australian driver's license.
