About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Handwritten. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Executive Chef in ensuring the seamless operation of our kitchen, upholding the highest standards of quality, profitability, and industry reputation.
  • Oversee food preparation, manage stock levels, and ensure service areas are consistently prepared for peak efficiency.
  • Mentor and guide junior kitchen staff, helping them develop their skills and reach their full potential.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and foster a cohesive and motivated kitchen environment.
  • Contribute to menu design, implement special promotions, and manage cost control, leveraging your expertise to contribute to our success.
Requirements
  • A skilled Chef De Partie ready to advance their culinary career.
  • Minimum qualification required: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  • Experience in a hotel environment is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage staffing needs, plan and delegate tasks, and motivate the team to meet daily objectives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene, HACCP, and workplace health and safety (WH&S).
  • Positive attitude towards the industry and a strong understanding of menu items and seasonal ingredients.
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
