Indigenous Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our Engagement and CSR team as an Indigenous Engagement Specialist. This role will see you support key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders within SBS, including NITV, in a variety of capacities.
Key Responsibilities- Engage and consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities.
- Implement the engagement plan in line with the Community Impact Strategy, ensuring that SBS is meeting its obligations and commitments to Indigenous Australians.
- Provide analysis and advice on Indigenous policy matters, ensuring that SBS is informed and up-to-date on the latest developments and trends.
- SOURCE RESEARCH relevant to matters to inform SBS in relation to content, protocol and operational matters pertaining to First Nations Australians.
- A strong understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures and protocols, and the ability to communicate sensitively, respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrable experience working within the Indigenous sector and/or within Indigenous Community.
- Interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills, including the ability to build relationships, trust and work effectively with external stakeholders and partners at all levels.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on project management, communications, research or related area.
- Media, communications, journalism or editorial background.
- Ability to interpret and analyse data with a strategic mindset.
