Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Category Development Manager to join our Sydney-based Retail team. This role involves identifying new supplier opportunities, developing strong relationships with suppliers, and account managing them to ensure successful launches and growth.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work at the center of Amazon's flywheel, utilizing data to identify customer selection gaps across multiple categories. You will be responsible for initiating and developing strong relationships with suppliers who can provide this selection and then account managing these suppliers to ensure a successful launch and ongoing growth.

Responsibilities
  • Understand market trends across multiple categories to identify relevant customer selection
  • Own new supplier recruitment including end-to-end sales cycle from prospecting to account management post-launch
  • Owning C-suite level negotiations that enable the onboarding of new suppliers
  • Educating new suppliers on Amazon's tools and systems to enable them to become self-sufficient in managing their catalog, inventory, and performance
  • Achieving business and financial objectives to drive growth of Amazon's Retail business
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the Retail business for suppliers through scalable solutions and manage the roll-out of these solutions
  • Working closely with category, marketing, supply, product, and other key internal Amazon stakeholders
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 4+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting experience with negotiations and delivering results
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated track record of success in meeting and exceeding business and/or financial KPIs
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross-functional internal and external audiences
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people at all decision-making levels, including C-suite
  • Experience with large data sets and insight generation using Excel, SQL, or other data analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Experience using CRM tools such as Salesforce to track sales cycle activities
  • Experience with SQL
Estimated Salary: AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum
