Chief Executive Officer of the Torres Strait Regional Authority

Join us in a unique opportunity to lead a Corporate Commonwealth entity representing Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal people living in the Torres Strait region.
About the RoleThe Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the elected membership of the Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) and plays a vital role in recognising and maintaining the unique culture of Torres Strait Islanders.
The TSRA conducts programs for the benefit of Indigenous people, provides data, develops policy, advises, and is accountable to the TSRA elected membership.
The successful candidate will have an impeccable track record in executive roles and senior strategic and operational management experience.
A commitment to effective public sector performance and a strong understanding of legislation and key policy issues relevant to the TSRA and the Torres Strait region is highly desirable.
The Chief Executive Officer will work closely with the private sector to promote economic development in the region and have experience in managing infrastructure programs.
The role requires a trusted leader who can build collaborative relationships with Indigenous people in the Torres Strait region.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the TSRA in achieving its objectives and role
- Develop and implement strategies to promote economic development in the region
- Manage infrastructure programs and work with the private sector
- Build collaborative relationships with Indigenous people in the Torres Strait region
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, or finance
- Private sector experience is desirable
- Eligibility: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates
This position is an Affirmative Measure – Indigenous position under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence in November 2024.
