About the Role

JS Careers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead Aboriginal Investment NT, a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the organisation's operations, including the execution of the Strategic Investment Plan. This is a statutory position, established under the Land Rights Act, and requires a strong understanding of the social, cultural, political, and economic operating environment in the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement the organisation's strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the Board's vision and objectives.
    • Lead a diverse and high-performing team, providing guidance and support to ensure the achievement of organisational goals.
    • Provide high-quality advice to the Board and its committees, ensuring effective governance and decision-making.
  • Relationships and Influence
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with Aboriginal Land Councils, organisations, and communities, fostering broad stakeholder relationships and operating effectively with Government and commercial partners.
    • Provide effective public representation for Aboriginal Investment NT, including raising its standing and public profile, attending ministerial meetings, and building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Governance and Compliance
    • Maintain an appropriate system of risk-management and internal controls, ensuring corporate governance requirements are met.
    • Drive a culture of good governance, providing accountability and transparency to Aboriginal people in the NT and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Cultural Capability
    • Demonstrated respect for diversity and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Leadership Experience
    • Extensive senior leadership experience, including the ability to direct business operations and a solid track record of leading an organisation through start-up or transformational change.
  • Governance and Management
    • Demonstrated experience with governance and management of investment funds and/or grants management processes and systems.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders in industry, government, media, and Aboriginal communities.
  • Qualifications
    • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
