About the Role

The Chief Executive Officer is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of the Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA). The successful candidate will have a proven track record in executive roles and senior strategic management experience, with a strong understanding of legislation and key policy issues relevant to the TSRA and the Torres Strait region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the TSRA's strategic plan, in collaboration with the Board and key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the TSRA's executive team, ensuring effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, governments, and other stakeholders to promote economic development and social justice in the Torres Strait region.
  • Oversee the management of infrastructure programs and ensure effective use of resources to achieve the TSRA's objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the TSRA's compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, or finance.
  • Private sector experience is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous affairs and the Torres Strait region.
  • Proven track record in executive roles and senior strategic management experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
What We Offer

A competitive remuneration package, commensurate with the responsibilities of the position, is available in accordance with the Remuneration Tribunal (Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Full-time Public Office) Determination 2024.

This position is an Affirmative Measure – Indigenous position under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 and is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates.
