The Office of the Local Government is seeking to appoint two **Council Engagement Managers **to develop and maintain productive trusted relationships with Councils, Joint Organisations and State Government agencies. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to local government and meet and engage with a wide variety of people with different interests.

**About You**

As the Council Engagement Manager, you will be responsible to:

- Develop and build trusted relationships with councils, supporting them to make decisions that positively influence the delivery of services, infrastructure, and good governance to local communities.
- Determine and identify emerging issues affecting councils and those that are likely to eventuate; prioritise needs, concerns, challenges, and opportunities; and identify solutions and initiatives to achieve desired outcomes in a timely manner.
- Facilitate effective working relationships between State and local government agencies and improve collaboration and support to lead to more effective delivery of reforms, initiatives, and good governance.
- Develop and deliver strategies, programs, processes, and information to councils to increase ongoing awareness of State government policy priorities and initiatives.

To be successful you will have a strong understanding of local government, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and be able and willing to travel and needed.

**Essential Requirements**
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training with knowledge of, and experience in, the operations of government.
- Experience in developing and maintaining professional and collaborative relationships that drive positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate legislation to a wide variety of stakeholders; with superior communications skills, and the ability to communicate with a range of different audiences.
- Understanding of the issues, challenges, opportunities and operational arrangements and cultures of councils; with experience in developing and delivering programs aimed at improving council performance.
