The position:


With a strong, clear vision and in partnership with government, communities and business, Wollongong City Council is dedicated to making the city safer and more accessible while connecting people and communities.

The Compliance and Regulation Manager is responsible for leading a team of dedicated officers to provide valued services to the City of Wollongong.

The team will include professionals in compliance and regulation (General Compliance Officers, Animal Compliance Officers, Illegal Dumping Officers and Parking Officers).

This position will drive the business through innovative solutions and the delivery of quality services to meet strategic objectives.

Specifically you will focus on:

  • Driving employee engagement initiatives, encompassing effective culture and communication strategies, leadership and team development.
  • Providing active leadership and direction to develop a high performing stakeholder and team focused culture.
  • Championing organisational change and reform ensuring the vision of the organisation is supported.
  • Educating the community regarding Council's statutory role in compliance and enforcement.
  • Managing a large and dynamic budget.
  • Your success in this role will be demonstrated through your ability to lead strategically and achieve high quality outcomes and results for the organisation. You will have exceptional communication, leadership, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with an ability to engage and broker support across a diverse range of internal and external customers.
