**About the role**
The community strengthening team seeks to increase the capacity of the community groups and local organisations to provide services and programs that respond to community needs. The Community Strengthening Officer supports the administration and delivery of community development programs that improve and promote the engagement of local community groups and organisations.

The Community Strengthening Officer - reports to the Coordinator Community Strengthening, who reports to the Manager Community Development.

The Community Strengthening Team currently includes the following programs:

- Community Grants program;
- Volunteer Recognition Program;
- Citizen of the Year Awards Program;
- Community Groups Committee; and
- Moorleigh Community Village Community Hub.

Other responsibilities include:

- Administer Council’s Community Grants Program in accordance with Council policy, procedures and guidelines.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve community grants policy, procedures, standard forms and letters and always ensure compliance with procedures.
- Provide administrative support to the Glen Eira Community Grants Committee
- Deliver timely and informed customer service both internally and externally

**About you**
You will have an understanding of community development, with knowledge and understanding of the delivery of community grant programs, awards and recognition programs

within a local government context.

You will be dependable and have a high level of detail in your work with the ability to prioritise tasks as needed and navigate through a dynamic work environment.

Your comunication skills will be proficient, and you will be confident communicating in a professional manner with a broad range of people

Qualifications and Experience:

- Relevant diploma or degree in Community Development or similar or lesser qualifications combined with other relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in the field of community development, community grants or community services

The following is also required:

- Experience working in the field of community development, community grants or community engagement.
- Ability to prepare reports, manage spreadsheets and prepare correspondence
- Demonstrated commitment and adherence to organisational values and behaviours.
- Commitment to exemplary customer service.
