**About the role**
In this position you will play a strategic leadership role with the focus of enhancing and strengthening Glen Eira City Council’s brand and its reputation with stakeholders, community, Councillors and staff. This role leads the development and implementation of impactful communications and engagement and advocacy strategies that help position the organisation for success. You will be a highly trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, Executive and Councillors ensuring a cohesive, planned and integrated approach to communications, engagement and advocacy across the organisation.

You will lead and motivate a dedicated and passionate communications, engagement and advocacy team that is responsible for executing a range of strategies, plans and activities that strengthen Council’s brand and enhance community trust.

**About you**
In this key leadership role, you will draw on your track record in leading and inspiring staff and creating a positive and motivating work environment, to develop and implement strategy that aligns to organisational imperatives.

You will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strong influencing skills and the ability to develop trust quickly range of diverse stakeholders. You will have a reputation for building trusted brands with an aptitude for listening, negotiating and relating to others. **Skills and experience**
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations, or related discipline plus extensive relevant experience or less formal qualifications with extensive and diverse relevant experience.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing a diverse portfolio
- Experience building strategies to protect and enhance brand while identifying and mitigating reputational risk.
- Experience in strategic advocacy and in building strong relationships with politicians and other elected officials
- Strong understanding of government and complex political environments
