**About the role**
As the Coordinator Communications, you are a proven communications leader who will supervise and guide Council’s communications team.

This position is a senior officer role and a member of the Communications, Engagement and Advocacy leadership team, working across Council on a variety of projects with internal and external stakeholders. You oversee the Communications Framework and manage the work of the communications team to plan, implement and evaluate communications activities and content.

You will mentor and coach a team of eight staff (including four direct reports) spanning communications business partnering, digital communications, media and content, brand and graphic design.
- You will have the opportunity to:_
- lead, manage and mentor Council’s communications team;
- contribute positively to the Communications, Engagement and Advocacy leadership team;
- develop and embed a Communications Framework and other strategic tools;
- oversee and maintain a 12-month forward plan of communications activities;
- embed a consistent brand voice for Council, including by developing overarching narratives for key organisational themes; and
- drive the success of the communications team’s internal business partnering relationships.

You will also have a passion for people and enjoy connecting, networking and mentoring others. You will have the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of people, building strong rapport and trusted relationships along the way.
- To be considered for this role, you will have:_
- a relevant qualification along with several years relevant experience or less formal qualifications with extensive experience.
- demonstrated leadership skills including ability to lead, motivate and develop staff;
- excellent interpersonal skills to engage and interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including executive, Councilors and senior leaders;
- strong proof-reading and editing skills and the ability to work within set style and branding requirements.
