We currently have an opportunity for a Development Assessment Officer - Building to join our team in our Environmental Services Department.


In this role you'll ensure the efficient processing of Development Applications in accordance with the requirements of the EPA Act 1979, State Government Planning Policy and Council's Planning Policy.

The Development Assessment Officer will also assist Council in meeting its statutory obligations under the EPA Act 1979 and the suite of related legislation.

  • Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
  • Attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience
  • Plus 10.5% superannuation

What you'll need to be successful in the role...

  • Qualifications in building construction and inspection and accreditation as a minimum A4 Accredited Certifier as defined by the NSW Building Professionals Board
  • Experience assessing and determining Development Applications and issuing notices and orders
  • Experience assessing and determining Construction Certificates and Complying Development Certificates under the Construction Code Series and issuing notices and orders
  • Experience managing projects including research, planning, report writing and organisational skills with the ability to multitask
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently to meet strict deadlines
  • Sound communication, problem solving skills and negotiation skills with a strong customer focus
  • Class C Drivers Licence.
