The role:


As Environmental Sustainability Officer you will develop, implement, evaluate and monitor Council policies, management plans and actions relating to climate change, sustainability, coast, estuary and environmental management.

You will engage and partner with other Council staff, government organisations and the community to develop and implement strategies relating to Environmental Sustainability.

You will assist with ensuring Council meets its Legislative, Delivery and Operational Plans and Budgetary requirements and with the development, implementation and evaluation of Council's Integrated Planning.


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Degree in Environmental Science or a related field
  • An understanding of current environmental issues, particularly sustainability, and relevant legislation as it impacts on local government
  • The proven ability to identify and secure project funding through grants, and inkind contributions
  • The proven ability to work with government and nongovernment organisations including community groups to develop, implement and evaluate environmental projects and education programs
  • Class C Driver's Licence.

About you:

We offer:

  • Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
  • Annual salary from $80,454.40 to $95, depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
  • Access to Council's Indoor Accrued Time Protocol, allowing up to two days of flex leave each month
