Which team is this in
The Services Portfolio is responsible for the primary channels via which we deliver experiences to our customers, this includes Ignite, Partner Platform and Agent Admin. This role will be within the Ignite Tribe, which is our strategic platform for customer self service, across Web, App and API experiences.
Delivering customer experiences and listings is a core function of our Australian business, so the Services Portfolio works closely with many other teams across REA to support the delivery of a diverse range of products.
This role will be focussed on supporting the Ignite Web Teams, across both the Core Platform team and the Core Product (new) team. For a little bit more context, the Ignite Platform is positioned to be the tool of choice for all customers that utilise REA to support their business. Ignite is available to our customers across both web and apps which is underpinned by a backend that integrates with many core systems across our business.
The Web Core Platform Team is a platform team that has lots of dependencies and friends throughout the business. It operates under a federated model supporting all our lines of business (LOB) to enable and deliver upon our key customer strategy. This means the team get to work, learn, share challenges, and celebrate success alongside many people and teams across all parts of the organisations. The Web Core Product Team is a newly formed team, that will be looking to make it easier for our customers to adopt Ignite, whilst also delivering capability that helps us drive up our monthly active user base.
This role is a busy one, but a great one that works with one great product and two great teams
What the role is all about
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for the solution design and delivery of products and services in a collaborative team environment using agile methods. The role requires full involvement through the entire SDLC – from concept, discovery and requirements through specification, development, testing and release.
Day to day of the job
Understanding complex business landscapes and clearly articulating business needs from a varied group of stakeholders
Translating business requirements into clear, concise, testable and accurate user stories & process flows
Validating and documenting business rules and scope
Collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, Delivery Leads, Developers and Quality Analysts in the production of solution designs and specifications and ultimately, working software
Ensuring that requirements are understood through story kick offs and constant communication using a variety of analysis and documentation techniques including the application of visualisation techniques to underpin joint understanding of processes and data
Working closely with product managers and stakeholders to understand how the requirements are implemented
Identifying and communicating any requirement dependencies, issues or risks identified through the analysis process
Contributing to the team’s understanding and prioritisation during planning meetings and retrospectives
Contributing to showcases
Participating in estimation sessions by describing the requirements and clarifying any questions raised
Addressing any requirement questions or issues that arise during the delivery process
Using your analytical skills to triage and support production issues;
Facilitating and participating in team standups, retrospectives & iteration planning sessions
Communicating constantly with key stakeholders, teammates and other people throughout the company
Contributing to the REA BA Guild
Who we’re looking for
To set yourself up for success in this role you will have ideally gained experience in the following areas:
Developed ability to interpret business needs and guide the development of appropriate solutions
Developed skills in workshop facilitation and requirements elicitation techniques
Developed specification writing skills via user stories
Understanding of system architecture and design as a foundation to build knowledge of the Residential Customer products, services and core systems
Ability to converse with both end-users, technical and business stakeholders across the organisation
Understanding of all aspects of the systems/software agile development cycle
Developed problem solving skills and ability to query and think creatively
Effective time management and prioritisation
Experience using Agile and Lean methodologies
Experience working in a distributed Agile team (desirable)
Looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens
Business, Commerce or Technical degree, or equivalent industry experience
At least 2 years of experience in IT, with at least 1 years’ experience in a product development environment
Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment - #gsd
