**About the Role**:
**_ The Audio-Visual Unit provides a range of forensic audio-visual services which include:_**
- Extraction and conversion of footage from CCTV devices.
- Extraction and conversion of audio and video recordings from a range of digital and analogue recording and storage devices.
- Analysis and authentication of video, images and audio.
- Repair of physically damaged media (tapes, CDs DVDs)
- Recovery of deleted or corrupted audio-visual recordings.
- Audio, video, and image enhancement.
- Attend crime scenes.

**_Key Accountabilities include:_**
- Undertake case work and report in own name.
- Convey specialist knowledge and judgement that impacts on legal deliberations and/or investigations including in the court context where opinion evidence is required.
- Deliver discipline related presentations using prescribed methods and procedures in casework.
- Attend, and examine crime scenes, and process related samples.
- Make qualified judgements that impact on the subsequent investigation and legal deliberations associated with casework.
- Assist in research and development, and training and development of staff by communicating professional/scientific/technical concepts.
- Supervise other staff as required.
- Where appropriate interpret results of analysis and undertake technical reviews of casework.
- Monitor and administer local contracts and service agreements within a well-defined service delivery framework.
- Solve problems that may require specialist knowledge in a number of scientific/technical fields.
- Co-ordinate the daily scheduling, performance, maintenance and trouble shooting of a range of scientific equipment.

**_Skills & Experience_**
- Possesses a degree and/or relevant qualification.
- Industry experience in the following areas will be considered:

- Audio Engineering, Video Engineering, Signal Processing (Audio, Video, Images), Physics, Computer Science.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Good general IT proficiency.

**Requirements and relevant information**:

- Ongoing FO-3 position available.
- The position's primary work site is located at the VPC, 311 Spencer Street, Melbourne with the secondary worksite, VPFSC located at Macleod.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Level 1 Negative Vetting Security Clearance. To achieve this, you must be an Australian Citizen.
- The incumbent must possess a Victorian Drivers Licence and the ability to obtain a Victoria Police Approved Driving Authority.
