About the business

Cranford House is a plastic and reconstructive surgery practice on South Terrace, Adelaide.  Dr Lam is the sole plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the practice where he consults patients prior to surgery and provides post-operative follow-up care after surgery.

At Cranford House; Dr Lam and our practice nurses also provide injectable fillers and Botox treatments. Dr Lam also performs minor procedures in a small theatre.

One of our receptionist team is retiring in October and we require a personable, friendly and competent receptionist to fill her position.

About the role

This is a busy practice. We have a variety of patients and you will be expected to be punctual, respectful and efficient in your work practices. Usual daily tasks will involve answering e-mails and phone calls; managing the front desk as patients arrive; recording patient details and scanning patient paperwork into the computer system. It is expected that you will be able to do this accurately and that you will check your work for errors and modify your practice to ensure accurate data recording. You will need either to have experience in medicare billing and receipting or be able to pick up new skills easily from training sessions which will be offered. The position will involve taking payments from patients for upcoming operations and you will be expected to make sure that patients are properly prepared for theatre; have completed and signed their paperwork and are aware of their admission and fasting instructions. Theatre details need to be checked and confirmed with the hospital, anaesthetist and surgical assistant. We aim to provide a very respectful and caring approach to patients and you will be expected to conduct yourself in this manner.

On occasions you may be asked to chaperone patients during examinations if the nurse is busy.

Ideally you will be proficient in Genie or able to quickly learn new computer operating systems. Most days you will be the sole receptionist at the front desk; there may be days when you are working with another receptionist - especially during the early settling in period when you will be learning the usual procedure at the front desk. We will provide training as required.

At times you may be asked to cover for unwell staff or cover for annual leave if you are able. Our staff all try to work together as a team and help out each other as required. It is usual for our staff to try and take leave when Dr Lam is also on leave.

Usual hours of work will be 0800 to 1700 Thursdays and Fridays. This is a job share role and there are 2 other reception staff who work on the other days of the week.

Other roles may include checking off any deliveries of stock to make sure the items have been received as ordered; filing and documentation of invoices that have been paid and organising invoices for Dr Lam that require payment.
