Your gig:

The role of a Head Barista goes beyond just brewing coffee. As the cornerstone of a bustling café, they oversee both the art and science of coffee making. From ensuring customer satisfaction to innovating the menu with new coffee trends, Head Baristas are integral to any successful coffee establishment.

Head Baristas often work in dynamic and high-energy environments. The role demands flexibility, as peak hours require the ability to multitask and manage stress effectively. The workspace is typically behind the coffee bar, collaborating closely with other staff members to ensure seamless service. As a Head Barista, you will take ownership of the coffee orders during peak hours. During quiet time, you will be required to fulfill a Front of House role such as Cashier or Crew Member.

Reporting to the U Store Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping an unforgettable experience at Australia's first U Health Café.

In a nutshell-

• You'll manage the barista team and provide training to ensure coffee quality and consistency.
• You'll handle inventory by handling orders, managing supplies and minimizing wastage.
• You'll address customer feedback and resolve service related issues promptly.
• You'll take full ownership of the coffee machine and ensure usage and cleaning procedures are adhered to at all times. Liaise with Store Manager regarding any issues with the machine as well as any additional equipment that is needed
• You'll work closely with the Coffee Excellence Trainer, ensure all feedback is taken on board for yourself as well as any of your team.
• You'll ensure full knowledge and understanding of correct espresso and milk steaming procedures and ensure full compliance at all times.
• You'll take pride and accountability for any Coffee Audit's both internally and externally, and work closely with upper store management on action plans and remedies needed.

All about you:

• You'll lead, inspire and communicate with your team to ensure consistency of various coffee beverages.
• You'll have 6+ months relevant barista experience, and flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule.
• You give your full attention to what other people are saying, your warm, honest and genuine. You get a kick out of communicating your ideas and collaborating with others to level-up business offering.
• You have a can-do approach. You think on your feet. You're cool with ambiguity, and you roll with the punches when things change.
• You're comfortable working within budgets and understand the commercial implications of decisions. A+ for you.
