About the Role
As a Systems Engineer within Babcock's ADF-GSE Engineering Acquisitions Team, you'll play a key role in delivering complex systems engineering activities that support the Australian Defence Force's Ground Support Equipment program.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll develop, review, and apply your engineering expertise across the full product lifecycle.
Your work will directly contribute to ensuring that equipment and systems are safe, fit-for-purpose, and compliant with Defence standards. You'll be responsible for establishing system requirements, developing technical documentation, conducting tender evaluations, and supporting safety and acquisition reviews.
You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and represent Babcock at customer and stakeholder meetings.
About You
You're a systems thinker who brings both technical rigour and strategic insight to your work. With a solid understanding of systems engineering principles and experience across the design lifecycle, you're able to translate complex requirements into practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
You pride yourself on your attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to deliver outcomes that exceed customer expectations.
Your proactive mindset and collaborative approach enable you to thrive in a team environment while also working autonomously when required.
Ideally, you bring experience working within Defence or highly regulated industries, with a strong understanding of acquisition processes, risk management, and system safety practices.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Be detail focused and driven to deliver a high standard of customer satisfaction.
- Understanding of systems engineering principles.
- Experience in design lifecycle reviews including concept, detailed through to as-built designs.
- Experience in participating and conducting qualitative risk assessments and HAZOPs within industries.
- Systems engineering experience with a background in defence capability and experience with a variety of equipment (desirable).
- Must be an Australian citizen and have Baseline Clearance and is able to obtain / maintain baseline Security Clearance.
