Engineering Technician – Defect Investigation C-CBRNE  

  • Investigate and recommend action in the rectification of system defects, primarily as a result of RODUMs.
  • This position is part of a high performing Engineering team within Babcock who services support the delivery of engineering documentation for the sustainment of the C-CBRNE fleet.

About the Role

As an Engineering Technician at Babcock, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting technical investigations and product assurance activities across our Defence programs. Reporting to the CA-26 Senior Technical Advisor, you'll be responsible for coordinating defect investigations involving suppliers, end users, and government departments such as the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG). Your work will include reviewing and supporting the release of Technical Alert Bulletins (TABs), liaising with Defence Logistics Managers on CBRNE equipment, and assessing substitutions of technical items where form, fit, and function remain unchanged. This is a dynamic role that demands precision, collaboration, and a strong understanding of engineering and logistics processes within a defence context.

About You

You bring a solid understanding of engineering toolsets such as PLM or MRP systems, along with experience using design, simulation, and analysis software. You're an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Security Clearance, and you're familiar with maintenance requirements, Logistics Support Analysis, and engineering amendment procedures. Whether you're a qualified technician with an AQF Certificate IV or a graduate engineer with a recognised degree, you're ready to contribute your expertise to a high-performing team. Ideally, you've worked within the defence industry and are eligible to obtain ADF Land Division Technical Proficiency Level 7. You're detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering technical excellence in support of Australia's defence capability.
