Guide Dogs Victoria is currently recruiting for a full time Facilities Manager to join our Corporate Services Team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer this management appointment will be part of our Senior Leadership team and will oversee the operation of all Guide Dogs Victoria’s facilities in a safe, effective and efficient manner so as to provide an accessible and inclusive space for our employees, volunteers and Clients.
This role will see you working in an organisation that has a 3 year plan for substantial growth. This is a critical role that will support the scaling of the business to meet the strategic objectives. Leading the management of Campus Services for GDV and entities including, facilities management and maintenance, property risk, compliance and sustainability.
This role will be the Campus key contact involved in day to day operations including but not limited to providing strategic advice on improving preventative maintenance management, responding to critical reactive maintenance issues and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Facilities Manager is expected to foresee and take proactive management of issues to mitigate any potential risks as well as lead, develop and coach a team of maintenance supervisors and Office Manager.
**In this role you will be responsible to**:
- Prepare, develop and implement the Master Plan for the facilities in line with the organisations strategic plan and campus redevelopment plan.
- Set and manage the facilities budget within the scope of the strategic plan, in conjunction with Finance.
- Liaise with the Campus Redevelopment Project Manager and the construction team to take responsibility for new facilities handed over to Guide Dogs Victoria from the Campus redevelopment.
- Proactively lead and implement OH&S policies and procedures for the facilities including the Emergency Management Plan, and ensuring compliance with all essential safety measures.
- Oversee the booking and delivery of services for commercial spaces and manage all other GDV buildings and assets fulfilling all lease obligations including onsite Veterinary Clinic and Hospital and public Café.
- Respond to urgent facility related issues including assisting with coordinating requests for repairs, maintenance and faults to any items, equipment and amenities.
- Develop, implement and monitor organisational systems, procedures and schedules for asset and facilities management.
- Coordinate the preparation of all necessary documentation required to tender for the provision of facilities management services for all sites, including waste management and cleaning.
- Proven experience as Facilities Manager or equivalent position for a minimum of 5 years.
- Tertiary qualifications in facility management, engineering, business administration or a relevant field.
- Project Management qualification or relevant on the job experience is essential.
- Current drivers licence and forklift license (or a willingness to acquire).
- Demonstrated experience in the supervision of building works, contractor management, and contract preparation and administration.
- Previous exposure to working with redevelopment is desirable.
- Well-versed in technical / engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish strong links with key stakeholders as well as the ability to negotiate effectively and work through issues constructively.
