About the role
Babcock is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineering Technician (Supportability) to lead and manage corrective and preventive maintenance tasks across Mission and Support Systems. This role is pivotal in delivering technical leadership and supportability engineering expertise within our Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and engineering programs. You will be responsible for planning and executing maintenance activities, conducting complex technical investigations, and producing high-quality documentation to support through-life capability. Your input will shape maintenance optimisation, life cycle cost analysis, and technical publications, while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and engineering standards. You'll collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, acting as a technical authority when required, and contributing to business development and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a leadership role that also involves mentoring junior staff and promoting a strong organisational culture aligned with Babcock's principles.
About you
You bring at least eight years of experience in maintenance delivery, ideally within the Defence sector, and have spent a minimum of two years managing maintenance programs. Your technical expertise spans ILS, engineering frameworks, and maintenance toolsets, and you're confident in leading investigations, developing documentation, and optimising maintenance processes. You're a skilled communicator and stakeholder manager, capable of influencing outcomes and fostering collaboration across teams. You hold a technical vocational qualification and are either certified or working towards certification with a relevant technical body. Your leadership style reflects Babcock's values—curious, courageous, collaborative, and outcome-focused—and you're committed to continuous professional development and knowledge sharing.
