Construction Manager

As Construction Manager at Bayswater Projects, you'll lead the operational heart of a high-performing construction business delivering complex government and commercial projects across NSW. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll oversee all Project Managers, Site Managers, and delivery teams — driving performance, consistency, and continual improvement across a diverse portfolio typically ranging from $1M to $15M in project size.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager ready to take the next step, or an established Construction Manager seeking a leadership role within a disciplined, growth oriented organisation. You'll play a pivotal role in strengthening our project systems, mentoring our people, and ensuring Bayswater continues to deliver outstanding results in a sustainable, scalable way.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of all Bayswater Projects' construction activities — ensuring performance, quality, safety, and commercial targets are consistently achieved.
- Oversee and mentor Project Managers, Site Managers, and delivery teams to uphold Bayswater's standards of professionalism, accountability, and care.
- Maintain strong relationships with government, institutional, and commercial clients — acting as Bayswater's senior representative across stakeholder forums.
- Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, claims strategy, and margin protection across multiple concurrent projects.
- Support sustainable company growth by contributing to tender strategy, resourcing, and business development initiatives.
- Partner with senior management to identify, attract, and retain top talent, building a high-calibre delivery team aligned to Bayswater's values and long-term objectives.
- Proven track record in commercial construction leadership — ideally within government, education, defence, justice, or heritage sectors.
- Experienced managing multiple projects and teams, with project values typically between $1M and $15M.
- Comprehensive understanding of WHSEQ management, quality control, and client-side compliance frameworks.
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen with the ability to drive sound financial outcomes.
- Effective communicator who leads with clarity, consistency, and professionalism.
- Capable of mentoring others while remaining detail-oriented and hands-on when required.
- Confident using modern construction systems such as Procore, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligible for Australian Defence and government clearances.
