Working in our watermelon-scented Production Kitchen, you will have the opportunity to craft our iconic cakes, whilst further developing your skills as a Pastry Master amongst our valued team led by our industry-respected Kitchen Management team who are approachable, kind, and proud of the team they mentor

A day in the life of this role looks a bit like this.
With the guidance and direction of your Kitchen Leaders, you will demonstrate your very own leadership abilities, leading our Strawberry Watermelon Cake (SWC) section of Pastry Chefs.

In this hands-on role, you will assist and drive all aspects of SWC production and final execution – ensuring no matter how many SWCs we create, the final presentation is on point, one slab at a time (and let's face it, peak seasons - the numbers are not small).

You will ensure the kitchen operations of your section are running efficiently and effectively, and you will do this by coordinating appropriate workflows, considering quality control, maintaining appropriate inventory through managing your supply chain, and importantly, leading a team of passionate individuals ensuring their efforts are rewarded.

Here Is How You Will Shine

• Proven experience in a Senior Pastry Chef role – ideally in a CDP role for 2+ years
• Experience in a Production Kitchen environment highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience working on a high-demand, high-volume product in a fast paced environment
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control that does not compromise operational efficiencies.
• Pride in performing the role of CDP for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake section – understanding the impact this team and cake has on the success of our Black Star Pastry brand.
• Build, maintain and contribute toward healthy teamwork and constructive working relationships.
• Clear communicate that is professional, authentic, and concise, with the ability to make informed decisions.
• Maintain a good level of understanding of the restaurant and hospitality industry and trends.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to meet the changing demands of our agile business.
