We're looking for an SEO Manager to lead search strategy for Cipher's flagship brand, Dimers, and its subscription product, Dimers Pro. Reporting to the Chief Experience Officer, you'll deliver measurable growth in visibility, traffic, and revenue by balancing technical performance, content, and off-page initiatives.

This role suits someone who thrives on experimentation and data-driven decision-making while staying ahead of the ever-evolving search landscape and embedding SEO across the business. Cipher is a sports technology and media company reaching millions of fans in the United States, Australia, and beyond, with this hybrid role based at our Melbourne HQ in Fitzroy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define and report on clear SEO goals and KPIs focused on revenue-driving channels and content.
  • Partner with editorial, product, infrastructure, and content teams to embed SEO in everything we publish and build.
  • Optimize for Google Top Stories and Discover, plus emerging formats like AI Overviews and AI Mode.
  • Ensure visibility across AI chatbots (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity).
  • Capture traffic from social platforms (e.g., Reddit, YouTube, X).
  • Support both subscription and affiliate funnels.
  • Build and reinforce brand authority through consistent practices rooted in E-E-A-T.
  • Balance on-page, off-page, and technical SEO.
  • Run regular audits, keyword research, and competitor analysis.
  • Recommend improvements to architecture, linking, and content.
  • Use AI, automation, and proprietary assets to scale impact.
  • Keep the business informed of shifts in the SEO landscape.

That's the role, so who are you?

  • Proven record of driving SEO growth for large or content-heavy sites.
  • Analytical and commercially minded, with strong numeracy skills.
  • Deep technical SEO expertise, including JavaScript, HTML, and/or CSS.
  • Knowledge of structured data, Core Web Vitals, and site performance.
  • Awareness of how emerging search formats (e.g., AI Overviews, AI Mode) impact strategy.
  • Experienced with GSC, GA4, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and Looker Studio.
  • Familiar with UX, CRO, and conversion funnels.
  • Confident communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ownership mindset - decisive, accountable, and outcome-driven.
  • Knowledge of sports/sports betting is a bonus, not a requirement.
