Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant / Financial Controller to take ownership of Aerofloat's project financials, assist with providing reports and financials to our external R&D consultant, reviewing profit and loss statements, cash flow forecasts and ultimately growing into a Chief Financial Officer position (CFO). This position is pivotal in managing Work in Progress (WIP), Billings in Advance (BIA), and Forecast Costs to Complete (FCC) to ensure financial accuracy and performance transparency across all active and recently completed projects. The successful candidate must have extensive hands-on experience in Procore Project Financials and will initially report to the Business Operations Manager while working closely with the remote CFO to deliver accurate, real-time financial insights that support strategic decision-making and company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Managers to analyse project financials within Procore, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with Xero and company reporting.
  • Oversee WIP, BIA, FCC and revenue recognition processes across all active projects.
  • Monitor project budgets, cost tracking and forecasting to provide project performance insights to management. Lead and support systems implementation initiatives, particularly involving Procore.
  • Develop and manage Power BI dashboards displaying company-wide performance metrics.
  • Provide actionable insights on project profitability, cash flow and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting.
  • Assist the engineering and scientific team with providing reports and financials to our external R&D consultant.
  • Review and provide input to monthly P&L, cash flow and balance sheet reports.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor of Accounting/Commerce/Finance, or related qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in project-based accounting within the construction, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Extensive experience in Procore Project Financials – essential.
  • Strong understanding of WIP, BIA, and Forecast Costs methodologies.
  • Advanced Xero experience.
  • Proven experience in systems implementation and process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and data visualisation skills using Power BI.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving skills.
