Workshop Controller
At Wayne Phillis Ford, we're not looking for a warm body to fill a desk. We're looking for the real engine behind a workshop — the person who keeps jobs flowing, teams aligned, and pressure turned into performance.
We've already got a dedicated Foreman on the floor handling quality control and complex diagnostics. What we need now is a Workshop Controller who can own the process, lead from the front, and drive the results that keep our customers loyal and our technicians proud of their work.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Run the show: Allocate jobs, manage daily workflow, and oversee workshop output
- Keep things moving: Prioritise jobs, minimise delays, and solve problems before they become complaints
- Be the bridge: Work closely with Service Advisors to keep customers informed and expectations realistic
- Support the Foreman: Let him handle quality control — your job is output, not inspection
- Manage the machine: Ensure daily processes align with Ford service and warranty requirements
- Lead the team: Motivate and support technicians without micro-managing
- Keep it clean and compliant: From safety to warranty compliance — you'll set the tone
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, or Senior Technician in a dealership environment
Strong understanding of manufacturer warranty processes, compliance expectations, and audit implications
Natural leadership — you've earned the respect of techs and advisors before
Skilled communicator — calm under pressure, direct but respectful
Mechanically qualified (preferred, not essential if you bring strong leadership)
Familiarity with Ford systems or Pentana DMS (a bonus but not required)
Full Australian driver's licence
Why Wayne Phillis?
Wayne Phillis is a family-owned, values-driven dealer group with a reputation for doing things the right way — both for customers and staff. We don't burn out good people; we back them.
When you join us, you're not just another cog in the dealership machine.
You're part of something with real growth, real leadership, and real recognition.
What's On Offer:
- $80K – $95K included bonus structure based on performance and experience
- Full support from an engaged Service Manager and respected Foreman
- A workshop team that wants leadership — and responds well to it
- Long-term career opportunities across our multi-franchise group
- Full manufacturer training if required
- A culture of clarity, accountability, and no politics
This Is NOT:
A job where you're stuck on the tools all day
A QC role — that's handled by the Foreman
A "Controller" job in name only — you'll actually run the floor
An entry-level step-up with no support — you'll have backup, mentorship, and respect
Final Word:
If you've ever thought "I basically run the workshop already — I just don't get paid like it", this is your moment.
Join a dealership where you won't be micromanaged, ignored, or undervalued.
Apply now — or reach out directly for a confidential chat.
We're open to experienced leaders and rising stars ready for their next challenge — as long as you understand what it takes to lead.
