Step into a Workshop Manager role that stands apart from the rest. You'll lead South Australia's largest pipeline of structural steel projects, spanning defence, industrial and commercial; within a workplace culture built on respect, collaboration and professionalism.
With an hourly rate plus penalties, you'll have the choice to boost your income through overtime or flex your hours for balance, all while guiding a skilled team in a business known nationally for its quality and integrity.
The Company
This steel fabrication and construction company has an excellent local and national reputation, and is sought after for large construction projects. The combined experience of the ownership team is of the richest in the country, spanning all facets of steel fabrication and construction.
Strengthened by significant tonne cranage capacity, CNC production machines that utilise the very latest technologies, and a team that cares about quality, this company has become the 'go to' steel fabrication and construction supplier for large SA defence, commercial and industrial projects that require the highest quality fabrication and construction standards.
The South Australian Managing Director has harnessed a great deal of industry respect; known for being a highly ethical operator, who places an emphasis on building and maintaining a people centric culture. Core business values include providing the highest standard of steelwork available, producing the best quality product, and supporting the development of a highly competent and cohesive team, ensuring employees feel happy and live balanced lives. Having a culture that people want to join, develop in, and don't want to leave; as well as harnessing the ongoing respect and commitment of the most reliable sub-contractor base; has been the cornerstone to this company's success.
Genuine care for others has become a shared value throughout the organisation, whereby colleagues show active support for one another. If a colleague needs help, whether personally or professionally, the team rally to support. This has undeniably created a unique workplace culture rarely seen to such an extent within the realm of steel fabrication and construction.
The Role
Currently two Workshop Supervisors oversee daily fabrication, and with continued business growth a Workshop Manager is now required to oversee the entire SA construction program from both a strategic and operational standpoint, ensuring that the business operates in tune with obligations.
With a significant ongoing project pipeline, the Workshop Manager will ensure that communication flows smoothly between the workshop, office, site teams and suppliers (regularly liaising with Project Managers, Production Scheduler, Workshop Supervisors, QSE Manager, the Managing Director, and others as required); so that sequencing of work and labour hours is well balanced to achieve company objectives.
We are seeking someone that has thorough knowledge of steel fabrication, has likely worked their way up from the workshop floor, with the ability to lead, motivate and support a positive and productive culture.
The position will be remunerated at an hourly rate + penalties, providing the opportunity to increase take home pay by design, with inbuilt flexibility.
As the Workshop Manager your role responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating construction programs and ensuring production is in accordance with requirements.
- Issuing drawings to Workshop Supervisors ensuring clear instruction is understood regarding technical requirements, priorities, and deadlines.
- Ensuring that production works in compliance with Business Management System Policies and Procedures.
