We are seeking an accounts administrator responsible for maintaining financial records and processes for a family-owned medical consumables distribution business. The role will include handling accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, inventory, and assisting with financial reporting and payroll. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and reasonable proficiency in accounting software (preferably MYOB Premier) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
We are a small business and therefore it is often a requirement that we assist the other team members in other areas of the business when required. It is a friendly team in a growing business, which means a rewarding and dynamic workplace environment, with plenty of scope to grow with the business.
Key responsibilities
- Accounts payable and receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and ensure timely payment to vendors and receipt of payments from customers.
- Reconcile accounts: Regularly reconcile bank statements and other financial records to ensure accuracy.
- Process financial transactions: Handle the day-to-day processing of financial transactions, including bank deposits and payments.
- Maintain financial records: Keep accurate financial records and ensure they are properly maintained and archived.
- Assist with payroll: Help with the processing of employee payroll.
- Collaborate with teams: Communicate with internal teams, suppliers, and clients regarding financial matters.
- Ensure compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Use accounting software: Utilise MYOB accounting software and some spreadsheets to streamline operations and maintain accuracy.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
- A track record in accounting or a related field is ideal, preferably with 2+ years of experience.
