At Southport Sharks, we're looking for a People & Culture Coordinator to join our dedicated team and help us continue building a workplace our people are proud to be part of.
About the role
Working closely with the General Manager - People & Culture, you'll provide day-today coordination and support across all areas of the employee lifecycle. In this role, every day will look different - from welcoming new team members, keeping HR systems organised and accurate, you'll play a key part in making sure our team members feel supported, informed and valued.
The Responsibilities
- Supporting the end-to-end recruitment process, posting job ads, shortlisting candidates, coordinating interviews, preparing employment contracts and welcoming new starters
- Coordinate the onboarding and induction process to ensure every team member feels informed, supported and excited to begin their new role at Southport Sharks
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records across HR systems
- Ensuring compliance with policies, legislation and best practices
- Preparing HR documentation, letters and correspondence with professionalism and attention to detail
- Coordinate new starter training schedules, compliance tracking and registers for certificates and licences
- Manage uniform stock and distribution to new and existing team members
- Support engagement and wellbeing initiatives, including recognition programs, staff events and the employee assistance program
- Acting as an approachable and knowledgeable first point of contract for team members and leaders, providing assistance with HR queries
- Assist Payroll with relevant administration such as new starter information, employment changes and terminations
- Supporting leaders with performance management or behaviours concerns, preparing documentation and sitting in on meetings as required
- Assist the General Manager with disciplinary or grievance processes
- Help maintain and update HR policies, procedures and templates to ensure they remain current and compliant
- Assist with data collection to support the General Manager with planning, strategies and continuous improvement
- Liaise with training providers and external partners as needed to support HR operations
- Contribute to projects to enhance the employee experience, workplace culture and engagement across the Club
- Always upholding confidentiality, integrity and respect in every interaction
About you
You're a natural people-person who thrives in helping others and problem solving. You enjoy variety in your day, a challenge, and can handle sensitive information with the highest level of discretion and trust.
- Previous experience in HR coordination, administration or similar people-focussed role
- A qualification in Human Resources would be highly regarded
- A proactive and flexible mindset - ready to jump in and help wherever it is needed
- Emotional intelligence and resilience - able to remain calm and composed under pressure and manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
- Experience in a hospitality, hotel or service industry is an advantage
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confidence to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management
