The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Head of People & Culture will design and deliver strategies that attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent while ensuring we meet our obligations as an APRA-regulated Authorised Deposit-taking Institution (ADI).

What You'll Do

  • Lead and evolve Alex Bank's People & Culture strategy, aligning people, capability, and culture to business growth and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive workforce planning, leadership development, and succession strategies across all business functions.
  • Lead remuneration, benefits, and performance frameworks (including CPS 511 compliance and Board Remuneration Committee engagement).
  • Oversee all aspects of employee engagement, recognition, wellbeing, and culture programs including "Inside Alex" and other cultural initiatives.
  • Partner with Risk & Compliance to ensure HR practices meet Fair Work, APRA, ASIC, and WHS obligations.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as core elements of how we lead and grow
  • Build and mentor a high-performing P&C team focused on delivering exceptional service and measurable outcomes.

About You

You're a strategic and people-centred HR leader who thrives in fast-moving, values-driven environments. You understand the nuances of regulated industries and have the confidence to influence senior stakeholders, coach executives, and engage at board level.

You'll bring:

  • 10+ years' experience in senior HR or People & Culture roles, ideally in banking, fintech, or financial services.
  • Proven experience building and executing people strategies in high-growth or transformation contexts.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian employment law, Fair Work, and APRA CPS standards (511, 230, 231).
  • Experience engaging with boards and regulators, and leading governance over remuneration and culture.
  • A collaborative, commercial, and courageous mindset you lead with integrity and deliver with impact.
