What You'll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

  • Drive the execution of our diverse, seasonal menu, preparing high-quality dishes with fresh, local ingredients.
  • Uphold the highest standards of food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop innovative new menu items and refine existing favourites.
  • Manage inventory, control stock, and build strong relationships with local suppliers to source the best sustainable produce.
  • Oversee kitchen budgets, rostering and expenditures, working to minimise waste while maximising profitability.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to all food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Cater to customer dietary requirements and respond promptly to feedback.

What We're Looking For (Qualifications & Experience)

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef, preferably in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant environment.
  • Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery) are highly regarded.
  • A deep understanding of modern cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen procedures.
  • The ability to work efficiently and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • A creative flair and a genuine passion for fresh, high-quality food.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a non-negotiable commitment to food safety.
