About the Role:
We are looking for a results-oriented and highly motivated Food Service New Business Development Manager to lead our efforts in identifying, pursuing, and securing new food service accounts. In this role, you will be responsible for expanding our customer base in Melbourne across targeted segments such as hospitality, restaurants, hotels, clubs, QSR's, home meal-kits and more.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep knowledge of the food service industry, a strong sales track record, and the ability to build relationships with key decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify and research prospective clients and market segments to develop a strong pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve growth targets across assigned regions or industries.
- Conduct outbound sales activities, including cold calls, emails, networking events, and in-person meetings.
- Understand client needs to craft tailored solutions, presentations, and proposals.
- Collaborate with culinary, operations, marketing, and finance teams to ensure successful onboarding and service delivery for new accounts.
- Negotiate contracts and close deals that align with company goals and profitability targets.
- Track sales performance using CRM systems, and provide accurate forecasts and activity reports.
- Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviors to stay ahead of the market.
- Represent the company at trade shows, food expos, and industry events.
Ideally, you will possess the following attributes and traits:
- 5+ years of experience in B2B sales or business development within the food service industry in Melbourne (e.g., distribution, manufacturing, or services).
- Proven track record of successfully acquiring new accounts and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of food service operations, supply chains, and buyer personas in Melbourne.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently.
- Proficient with CRM tools
- Willingness to travel within assigned territory and interstate.
- Experience selling to restaurants, hospitality groups, institutional food service (schools, healthcare, etc.), or corporate dining programs.
- Culinary background or food product knowledge is a plus.
- Familiarity with current food trends and sustainability initiatives.
