About the role

PHP Asphalt Solutions is looking for a skilled Workshop Mechanic or trade assistant to join our team in Rocklea. This position has become available with the retirement of our long-term mechanic, and we're seeking someone ready to step into a key role in our busy workshop.

In the role, you'll be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of trucks, utes, rollers, pavers, and specialised asphalt equipment. You'll work alongside an experienced mechanic to ensure our machinery remains in top condition and is ready for the job.


What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections on trucks, plant, and machinery
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues across a diverse fleet
  • Working closely with our operations team to prioritise and schedule repairs
  • Keeping accurate service and maintenance records
  • Maintaining a safe, tidy, and efficient workshop
  • Providing support to the broader asphalt operations team when required

What we're looking for

  • Minimum car licence required, but an MR/HR/HC licence is an advantage
  • Trade qualification in automotive mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance is an advantage, but not essential
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Good record-keeping and attention to detail
  • Commitment to safety and safe work practices
  • Computer literacy and diagnostic software skills are an advantage
  • Permanent resident status with valid Australian work rights required
