About Us

At FMI Building Innovation, we're on a mission to Build Better Homes with high-performing, sustainable, and accessible building products. With operations across New Zealand and Australia, we're known for delivering quality window and door systems, frameless glass, and prefabricated solutions.

As we continue to expand in Victoria, we're looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead our Melbourne Glass Plant and play a key role in operational success and continuous improvement.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Glass, you'll take ownership of all production activities across our modern glass processing facility. Your focus will be on leading people, improving plant performance, and driving a safety-first culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across cutting, edgework, toughening, digital print, lamination, and more
  • Lead and develop a team of production staff and team leaders
  • Drive operational performance to meet DIFOTIS and MIFOTIS targets
  • Maintain strict quality control and reduce non-conforming product (NCP)
  • Support training, succession planning, and staff engagement
  • Monitor and improve OEE (Throughput, Recovery, Uptime)
  • Champion HSE and 'Zero Harm' workplace culture

What You'll Bring

5 years' experience in a production leadership role
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs and process optimisation
Experience coaching, mentoring and developing teams
A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Full Australian work rights

Bonus if you have:

Experience in glass manufacturing or building product sectors
Working knowledge of OEE or lean manufacturing principles
