Government Department seeking APS6 Legal Policy Officer

The section is responsible for providing policy and other advice to decision makers on a range of activities

**Your new role**
This position will see you play an important supporting role in the research, analysis and development of forward-looking, evidence-based policy. Duties and responsibilities may include;
- Providing advice and supporting the associated decision making processes by the Department and Government
- Working with Industry and other Government Agencies to ensure timely changes in line with statutory requirements
- Undertaking individual or team-based research and analysis projects to assist in the development of evidence-based options for new policies, working collaboratively within the Division and across the Department, and with external organisations as required;
- Assisting with quality assurance of the budget forward estimates
- Evaluative and advising on costs, benefits, risks and opportunities associated with new policy options;
- Drafting reports and discussion papers, and providing input to policy advice and issues briefs
- Developing productive working relationships with stakeholders
- Provide input for briefs, minutes and submissions for the Executive, Minister or other departments

**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the following;
- Research and analysis (particularly data analysis)
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and representational skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with both internal and external colleagues
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful, productive stakeholder relationships
- Flexibility, initiative and organisations skills to work effectively in a small team to tight deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced excel skills
- Ability to identify and synthesise key pieces

**Australian Citizenship and a Baseline Security clearance will be required for this role.**
