Working in a town centre in the south of the ACT, this large Government Department brings together socially focussed individuals keen to make a difference to Australian society. Workload is heavy, pipeline is strong - this section needs an experienced APS6 Policy Officer to get the job done and support the wider team.
**Your new role**
You are passionate about social policy and supporting the development of Australians. As an APS6, working within a wider team, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing policies. Your role will involve working closely with various stakeholders, including ministers, executives, and key stakeholders, to draft policy advice and prepare high-quality documents. Your key duties will also include:
- Researching, analysing and interpreting information to inform policy considerations
- Developing, implementing and managing associated grants and procurement processes
As you will be engaging and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, well-developed communication skills with the ability to foster professional relationships whilst building rapport and trust is a must.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To succeed in this role, you should possess critical thinking skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines. Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage competing tasks will be essential. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce clear and comprehensive materials, sometimes within short time frames. Being proactive and anticipating issues in the sector or with stakeholders will contribute to your success in this role. You will have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
