**The Role**
This role provides complex planning and scheduling work to contribute to strategic planning, project management and policy development. The position provides technical, professional and policy analysis to support good decision making.
You will work under limited direction within an integrated workforce. You may lead a team, providing coaching and feedback to develop area capability. You would be accountable for setting priorities and managing workflows to achieve work unit outcomes. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining project analysis schedules, or deriving these from project master schedules
- Conducting joint analysis of cost and schedule and reporting to decision makers
- Building relationships with team members, including coaching and mentoring
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders to provide constructive feedback and recommend solutions
- Assessing compliance with legislation, policy, contracts and agreements, and providing advice
- Prioritising work to meet business objectives
- Resolving problems by identifying alternative courses of action
**About our Team**
Force Structure Cost Analysis (FSCA) Directorate is the lead for generating initial cost estimates for Defence projects prior to entry into the Defence Integrated Investment Portfolio. The Directorate's primary outcome is to provide and assure robust, defensible cost estimates to inform decisions about the prioritisation of future Defence Capability, Information and Communications Technology and Security and Estate projects.
FSCA Directorate supports Force Options and Plans (FOAP) Branch in delivering affordable and achievable optimum joint force options. The understanding and trust of the Department’s Senior Leaders and Central Agencies is maintained through credible costing methodologies and regular engagement with stakeholders. This appointment is of strategic importance for the VCDFE.

In this position, you will be working collaboratively with APS, military and contractor personnel to deliver cost estimation functions in support of future force design.
- Has experience or a high level of interest in project scheduling
- Can apply, or rapidly acquire, understanding of Defence policy and strategic objectives, including the most recent directives
- Has outstanding time management and organisation skills
- Ensures attention to detail
- Is able to action tasks within tight deadlines
- Promotes good working relationships
- Possesses excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Has a demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary integrated workforce, and
- Communicates confidently and collaboratively to effectively manage key stakeholder relationships.
