The Head of Deposits & Product Services role is responsible for managing and developing HSBC’s liabilities portfolio of term deposits, at-call savings and transactional deposit products including scheme debit that our retail customers use to meet their day-to-day financial needs, and for managing the liabilities side of HSBC’s retail balance sheet. The portfolio responsibilities also include the management of Product Services linked to both deposit and lending products including Trust Accounts and Non-Trading Entities, Deceased Estates, Power of Attorney, Customer signing authorities. This role is integral in delivering HSBC’s ambition to grow its base of main-banked customers, and to make it easy and rewarding for customers to save with us.

We’re looking for a talented, analytical individual to drive our deposits strategy and take end-to-end ownership for all elements of the product suite. You will use your customer and market insight to develop innovative new propositions and seamless customer experiences, your product management skills to grow and engage our customers, and your pricing expertise to dynamically manage our liquidity.

Your main responsibilities will include:

- Develop and deliver a deposits strategy that reflects HSBC’s unique positioning in the Australia market.
- Own the delivery of the key financial metrics for the deposits portfolio.
- Partner with channels, customer insight and experience, analytics and technology teams to identify opportunities to enhance our product range in line with the strategy.
- Maintain required liquidity levels by managing the balances and margin of the retail deposit portfolio.
- Use market analysis, vintage analysis and price elasticity modelling to create the ability to recommend and deploy rapid pricing changes
- Deliver customer growth through understanding the drivers of new business performance, the impact of campaigns, the performance of each channel, the value of partnerships and innovative opportunities presented by an evolving market.
- Continually review and enhance key journeys to deliver seamless and frictionless digital experiences.
- Engage deposit customers by developing customised contact strategies covering onboarding, activation, spend and usage and retention.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- A tertiary qualification and extensive experience (5-10 years) in managing deposit portfolios: you can demonstrate proven expertise in deposit product management, pricing and acquisition with a sizeable institution.
- Comfortable modelling various price and product constructs, and skilled at balancing volumes and margins to deliver sustainable returns.
- A track record of analysing multiple insight sources to make sound, data-led decisions.
- Able to make solid working relationships with all types of colleagues, while also being prepared to challenge them to drive your strategies and ideas.
- Build effective business cases and develop successful recommendations for obtaining buy-in.
- Motivate and stretch your team and your peers to continually improve their performance.
- Proven success in being able to implement your ideas and initiatives, whether big or small.
